Charter enthusiasts met and agreed to appoint and vote for leadership positions, making spearhead Brian Chriceol as President in January and former Rotarian District Governor Yvonne Normand as Vice President of the BSTA Trail Association in April, 2022.

In November 2021, a meeting took place in Baton Rouge whereby the concept and organizational network for a state trail association received an official nod and promise of support from Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. Subsequent of that, the BSTA was officially launched as an organization on November 13, 2021 to proceed with that goal.

In June 2021, the Rotary District 6200 signed a memorandum of understanding for support of the establishment of an association dedicated to the development of a group to support and bring a sustainable Louisiana trail to fruition.
